1. What LostTed is
LostTed is a platform that helps people report lost cuddly toys and other cherished belongings, and helps members of the community spot and return them.
LostTed is operated by LostTed, based in the United Kingdom.
By using LostTed — whether as someone reporting a lost item (a Lister), someone looking for a found item (a Finder), or someone keeping an eye out in their neighbourhood (a Spotter) — you agree to these terms.
2. How LostTed works
LostTed does not use traditional user accounts. Instead, you are identified by your email address and a unique access link sent to you. You are responsible for keeping that link secure and not sharing it with anyone else.
There are three ways to use LostTed:
- Listers report a lost item by providing a description, a location, and optionally a photo. They receive a unique link to manage their listing.
- Finders report finding an item that may belong to someone. They search nearby listings and, if they find a match, can contact the Lister through the platform.
- Spotters register their location and receive alerts when a new listing is created near them. They keep an eye out and report sightings.
3. Your responsibilities as a Lister
- Only create listings for genuine lost items. Do not create false or misleading listings.
- Provide accurate information — location, description, and photo — to give your listing the best chance of success.
- Keep your listing up to date. If your item is found, please mark the listing as resolved so Spotters are no longer alerted unnecessarily.
- Do not use listings to advertise services, products, or anything unrelated to a genuinely lost item.
4. Your responsibilities as a Finder
- Only contact Listers if you have genuinely found or spotted an item that may match their listing.
- Treat Listers with respect. Do not send unsolicited or inappropriate messages.
- If a Lister shares their contact details with you, use them only for the purpose of reuniting them with their lost item. Do not retain or misuse them.
5. Your responsibilities as a Spotter
- Provide your real location when registering. Inaccurate location data reduces the value of spotter alerts for everyone.
- Only submit sightings when you have genuinely seen something that may match a listing. Do not submit false sightings.
- You can unsubscribe from alerts at any time using the link in any alert email.
6. Acceptable use
You must not use LostTed to:
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent listings or sightings
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
- Collect or harvest personal information about other users
- Use the platform for commercial purposes or advertising
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' listings
- Interfere with the operation of the platform
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
We reserve the right to remove any listing or sighting, and to block access to the platform, if we believe these terms have been breached.
7. Photos and content you submit
By submitting a photo or description to LostTed, you confirm that you own the content or have the right to submit it, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
You grant LostTed a non-exclusive licence to display your submitted content on the platform for the purpose of operating the service.
We will not sell or license your content to third parties.
8. LostTed's role and limitations
LostTed is a platform — we connect people, but we are not a party to any transaction or arrangement that results from a connection made through LostTed.
We cannot guarantee that any lost item will be found, or that any listing will result in a reunion. We do our best to facilitate connections, but outcomes depend on the community.
We are not responsible for the accuracy of listings or sightings submitted by users.
9. Contact sharing and your safety
LostTed is designed to protect your privacy. Contact details are never automatically shared. A Lister must explicitly choose to share their contact information with a Finder before any direct contact is possible.
Once contact details have been shared, LostTed has no control over how they are used. Please use your judgement and exercise appropriate caution.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, LostTed shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from:
- Your use of, or inability to use, the platform
- The accuracy or completeness of any listing or sighting
- Any contact or transaction between users of the platform
- Any loss of data
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify Listers and Spotters by email if we make significant changes. Continued use of the platform after changes are notified constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
